Storm Outages and Power Surges Prevention

It is pretty safe to assume that much of the population relies heavily on their computers, whether business or personal. And a lot of steps are taken to ensure those computers run smoothly such as antivirus programs and cleaning out of the cache. It is safe to say that we all have failed to take care of our appliances at one time or another. The results end up being that the appliance performs inadequately at a slower speed or that the appliance breaks altogether.

Some of us may remember the “Golden Years” when appliances were built to last, however, this is really not the case anymore. When it comes to modern technology, the industry is rapidly increasing and growing to new heights. What was once the latest technology, six months later becomes ancient. That being said, most technological appliances like computers aren’t being used by their buyers for more than two years at most because of the rapid increase and evolution of technology. Naturally, companies aren’t building their appliances to last a lifetime anymore since there is no reason to. This puts a little extra stress on the user because there is more maintenance that needs to be done in order to keep the appliance in working order.

With the maintenance of computers, it is necessary to fully review the user’s guide upon purchase. User manuals that come with your appliances should also be consulted for tips on how to maintain your every day appliances so they run correctly and stay in good shape. When you will have the appropriate directions on maintaining your equipment and follow those instructions it increases the life expectancy of your appliances.

At the risk of sounding repetitive, we cannot emphasize enough the preventative steps we have outlined in previous newsletters about hurricane preparation. In an effort to minimize the potential damage (i.e. electrical damage caused from outages and surges) major appliances can be turned off. Much of the “brain makeup” of appliances today is computers. Power surges during a storm can wreck havoc.

We can come the day prior of the impending storm to shut down your operating system and return the following day after the storm to bring you back into running order. While there I will also check for any damage that may have occurred. A shut down can avoid higher costs later for unnecessary repairs; hiring us professionals can save you hundreds to thousands of dollars.

Please call me if you are unsure whether or not your laundry set up would benefit from this type of shut down. Please contact us early as there are many of our commercial accounts, particularly dry cleaners, salons, hotels and resorts that will require this service. We want to ensure we have enough time to get to all of our Alexandria, LA and surrounding customers. Call us at 703-662-5044 for free quote.
